Easy Palak Paneer Recipe | Quick Spinach & Cottage Cheese Curry

Introduction

Palak Paneer is one of the most loved Indian vegetarian dishes. Normally, it calls for a long list of spices, but today I’m sharing a super simple Palak Paneer recipe with fewer ingredients. This version is perfect if you’re short on time or just want to enjoy the natural flavors of spinach and paneer without too much fuss.



It’s quick, healthy, and pairs beautifully with roti, naan, or even plain steamed rice.

Ingredients 

  • 300 g fresh spinach (palak)

  • 200 g paneer (cubed)

  • 1 medium onion (finely chopped)

  • 2–3 garlic cloves (chopped)

  • 1 green chili (optional, for heat)

  • 1 tbsp oil or ghee

  • ½ tsp cumin seeds

  • ½ tsp garam masala (optional but recommended)

  • Salt to taste

Step-by-Step Recipe

  1. Blanch & puree spinach

    • Wash spinach leaves. Boil them in water for 2 minutes, then quickly transfer to cold water.

    • Blend into a smooth paste.

  2. Prepare the base

    • Heat oil in a pan. Add cumin seeds.

    • Sauté onion, garlic, and green chili until golden.

  3. Add spinach puree

    • Stir in spinach puree and cook for 4–5 minutes with salt.

  4. Add paneer

    • Gently add paneer cubes. Cook for 2–3 minutes.

  5. Finish & serve

    • Sprinkle garam masala, mix, and turn off the heat.

    • Serve hot with roti, naan, or rice.

  • Enjoy with phulka or roti for a light dinner.

  • Pair with jeera rice for a wholesome lunch.
